The Philippine chapter of The Art of Living has announced that they will be sending over 100 dancers from the Buyogan Festival dance troupe of Tacloban to represent the country at the World Culture Festival in New Delhi, India this month. Tacloban was one of the provinces that was hardest hit during the onslaught of Tyhoon Yolanda three years ago, and still picking up the pieces on the slow road to recovery.
The world that we live in at present is one that is wrought with uncertainty, conflict, and fear. Now more than ever, the need for unity and peace amongst the different peoples of the world, to spread the message of love, resonates. It is against this backdrop that The Art of Living, a transformative global movement founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, announced the mounting of the World Culture Festival to be held between March 11-13, 2016, in New Dehli, India.
It was through the first hand experiences of Siaw San Liew, Art of Living volunteer teacher from Malaysia who has been working in Tacloban, that the inspiration for this meaningful endeavor was sparked.
“I’ve witnessed the resilience of the Filipino people in my work in Tacloban,” Siaw Sian Liew relates. “I’ve seen hope in the face of so much difficulty, so I have no doubt in my mind that through everyone’s support, we can make this dream of bringing the highly talented Buyogan Festival dancers to the World Culture Festival a reality.”
Anchored on the theme of One World Family, the festival will gather nations of different cultures and faiths close to a million individuals from 155 countries in a majestic celebration never seen before.
The 3-day grand event will present a symphony of music, dance and other works of art from India and the rest of the world by way of a massive 7-acre stage to seat thousands of artists, dignitaries and guests. On all three days of the festival, and in keeping with its meaningful message of harmony, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will lead a ‘Peace Meditation’ to be joined by millions the world over.
