National pride reached epic proportions as boxing champ Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao met Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center. In what could be described as a moment of pure kismet, Pacquiao and Wurtzbach met at the Food Exchange Manila along with Binibining Pilipinas Charities Chairwoman Stella Marquez-Araneta, Novotel Manila Araneta Center General Manager Bernd Schneider and Uniprom International Officer-in-Charge Irene Jose. Pacquiao returns from his win over Timothy Bradley for the WBO International Welterweight title last weekend while Wurtzbach is scheduled to crown her successor to the Binibining Pilipinas – Universe title this coming Sunday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
During her press conference at the Monet Ballroom, Wurtzbach shared her short chat with The People’s Champ. She recalled a tweet she posted after Pacquiao’s loss to Floyd Mayweather late last year, where she vowed retribution during the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. “I reminded him about that tweet which I posted because I am such a big fan of his as a boxer. I was so glad when he said ‘I remember that.’, quipped Wurtzbach. The Miss Universe 2015 title holder also shared that, like Pacquiao, she is grateful for the support Filipinos all over the world give her, saying that it is an honor to wear the Philippine flag on the global stage.
