The inaugural ProWine ASIA 2016 newest addition to the ProWeinWorld series following the highly successful ProWein in Germany and ProWine China will be held from 12 to 15 April 2016 at the Singapore Expo, alongside the 20th of FHA 2016 (Food&HotelAsia 2016) for the first time.
The opportune staging of ProWine ASIA 2016 comes in tandem with the mounting global interest towards Southeast Asia’s wines and spirits market. A region of rapidly developing economies and home to 600 million people, Southeast Asia will see yearly consumption of beer, wine, spirits and mixed drinks to surge by almost 1.2bn nine-litre cases by 2019 , according to the International Wine & Spirit Research (IWSR) 2014-2019 report.
Reflective of the market shifts, ProWine ASIA 2016 has to date attracted strong international participation from both group pavilions and individual exhibitors across 17 countries and regions, including Australia, Austria, Argentina, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain and USA.
Some of the key confirmed exhibitors include producers and distributors from France, Italy, Singapore and Spain, led by SOPEXA, ICEX, Prodeca, Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMF), and Winalia. The internationally prominent lineup will bring to the show floor a wide array of wines and spirits from across the world, numerous business and networking opportunities and more than 300 master classes, workshops and seminars by field experts on topics ranging from autochthonous grape varieties to the diversity of wine further elevating ProWine ASIA 2016’s standing as the ‘must-visit’ trade fair for industry leaders in the Philippines and the region to gain the latest industry insights.
Filipinos, the third heaviest drinkers in the world according to Euromonitor International, typically tend to favour beer. However, in recent years, preference for wine has grown. A trend brought about by the improving economy and a growing awareness of the wine-drinking lifestyle.
Having registered a record high total volume sales growth in 2014 and expected to grow by an eight per cent total volume CAGR over the next four to five years, the wine category in the Philippines is looking extremely optimistic. This rising demandis driven by the country’s mushrooming middle-class market one of the primary target audience of the category – who are relatively less sensitive towards price movements, as well as the heighten awareness of the health benefits of wine drinking.
Hosting the inaugural ProWine ASIA 2016 in Singapore, the hub of Southeast Asia, thus serves as a strategic bridge to connect regional wine and spirit traders with international producers looking to foray into the burgeoning Southeast Asia market, including ‘newcomers’ to the international wine business.
“Numerous positive market signs towards the Southeast Asian wines and spirits market, in particular the emerging Philippines market, signals a good time for market entry. We are excited to partner Singapore Exhibition Services to bring ProWine ASIA to Southeast Asia for the very first time. The event will bring international exhibiting companies into closer contact with buyers from the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia, and build collaborative partnerships. These opportunities will also exist through our programme of events that incorporate masterclasses and seminars, as well as special tastings and presentations by exhibiting companies that are keen to leverage the unprecedented opportunities that Southeast Asia has to offer to wine and spirit companies of all sizes,” says Ms. Beattrice J. Ho, Project Director at Messe Düsseldorf Asia.
“We are honoured to partner Messe Düsseldorf Asia to bring the world’s leading wine and spirits trade fair to Southeast Asia,” highlights Ms. Ting SiewMui, Project Director of Lifestyle Events at Singapore Exhibition Services. “With an increase in consumption of wine and spirits in our region, this event comes at a great time for the Philippines and countries in Southeast Asia. Through the collaboration, we can further develop and extend FHA’s wine and spirits segment. This will enable us to help industry players in the region meet sales demands and keep abreast of latest industry trends and developments.
ProWine ASIA 2016 is modelled on the globally recognised wine and spirits trade fair ProWein in Germany, organised by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. Since its inception in 1994, ProWein has gained a reputation as the world’s leading trade fair for wines and spirits, and is increasingly seen as a key industry and order platform with international appeal. ProWine ASIA looks forward to bringing the same sophistication, expertise and robust global flavour of exhibitors to Singapore and Southeast Asia.
