SinagMaynila 2015 Film Imbisibol Wins NETPAC Award

SinagMaynila 2015 film IMBISIBOL directed by Lawrence Fajardo wins the NETPAC AWARD(Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) in the 22nd Festival International des Cinemas d’Asie, in Vesoul, France. The citation reads “for its portrayal of Filipino migrant workers in a Japanese small town. Effective use of comedy and multiple strands of narrative culminate into a dramatic ending that hits home the film’s message with sublime power.”

For 2016, the festival has been opened to any Filipino independent filmmaker who wish to apply for a film grant.Five chosen filmmakers closely collaborated with Tieng and Mendoza and this collaboration resulted in stories that reflect the Filipino culture while illustrating messages that will resonate globally featuring MRS. by Adolf Alix Jr., EXPRESSWAY by Ato Bautista, DYAMPER by Mes De Guzman, T.P.O. by Jay Altarejos, and LILA by Gino M. Santos
