5 Seconds of Summer release their brand new single ‘Girls Talk Boys’ through Capitol Records on the day they sell-out Madison Square Garden on their ‘Sounds Live Feels Live’ world tour. Taken from the Ghostbusters Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, the track is released today as the movie hits cinemas worldwide.
A sign of things to come for the band, Ashton says of the single, “The song is just fantastic and it also fits in with where the band’s sound is going. We are so excited for the fans to hear our new direction of music.”
The ‘Sounds Live Feels Live Tour’ has already taken the band across the globe, performing their Number 1 album, ‘Sounds Good Feels Good’. Beginning back in February 2016 in Japan, and including two sold-out night’s at London’s O2 Arena in April, the guys will have performed to over 750,000 devoted fans by the end of the tour in October, proving that their electric live shows continue to be the cornerstone of their remarkable success.
Hailed as the “World’s hottest band” by Rolling Stone, 5SOS are one of the biggest breakthrough stories of the last few years; six multi-million selling singles, a self-titled debut album that not only topped the US Album Chart (going to #1 globally on iTunes in 76 countries) but also became the third biggest preorder in iTunes history and the biggest US debut by an Australian artist ever. Now to add to that, a second album that topped the charts around the world (becoming their first UK Number 1 album) and making them the only band in history (not vocal group) to see their first two full-length studio albums debut at the top spot on the US Billboard 200 chart.
From the start, 5SOS were united by a love of punk-rock music and a vision of bringing it into the pop stratosphere. They played their first gig together in late 2011, performing for about a dozen people at a hotel in their hometown of Sydney, Australia. Three years later, they were headlining the Forum in Los Angeles, where they played for 25,000 fans during a sold-out, two-night stand.
