BPI Foundation, together with ASKI Global Limited Hong Kong, recognized 507 Filipino migrant workers who have completed their training in two academic programmes of Financial Education and Basic Entrepreneurship, as part of BPI-ASKI Sulong Financial Education Program.
The BPI-ASKI Sulong Financial Education Program aims to train participants’ family members to better manage their monthly remittances and to encourage them to have an entrepreneurial mind-set.
Eighty-nine (89) overseas Filipinos have attended and completed their Financial Literacy training, thirty (30) migrant workers attended and completed their training in Basic Entrepreneurship, while seventy six (76) have attended and completed double certificate course programs, finishing both Financial Education and Basic Entrepreneurship. Rounding up the graduating batch for this commencement exercise were three hundred twelve (312) who have attended and completed the special class on Entrepreneurship dubbed as Building Your Business Through Basics (3Bs). This program was conducted in partnership with Boardwalk Hong Kong, Royale Business Club, The Loved Flock Community of Hong Kong and Empowerment Centre International Hong Kong.
The annual graduation ceremony was held at the Park-In Training Hall, Mongkok, Kowloon. It was graced by guest of honor, Vice Consul Alex O. Vallespin of the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong, Fidelina A. Corcuera, Executive Director of BPI Foundation, Inc., Howard Ling, ASKI Global Hong Kong Board Director and Chief Consultant of the HKCSS-HSBC Social Enterprise Business Centre, President of the ASKI Group of Companies for Alalay Sa Kaunlaran Inc., Rolando Victoria, and Founding Board Director of ASKI Global Limited Hong Kong, Irma Cosico.
BPI Foundation and ASKI Global Limited Hong Kong have recognized the perseverance, determination, creativity and hard work that the graduates have put in their studies and in the development of their individual financial plans. As such, three (3) Financial Education graduates were conferred with special awards under three different categories – Savings, Investment and Remittance.
Under the Basic Entrepreneurship program, ASKI Global Limited Hong Kong and BPI Foundation have chosen fourteen (14) outstanding and three (3) excellent business plans out of the 106 submitted. These graduates have acted on their dreams and exerted time and effort to be successful. They have worked hard to write what they want and have put their vision into action.
