The Community Crafts Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CCAP) is proud to announce its first advocacy run, aptly dubbed: TaKKKbo 2017 (Kalikasan, Kababaihan, Kabuhayan), in support to CCAP’s core thrusts: environmental protection, women empowerment and economic justice.

The event is slated for May 13, 2017, coinciding with the annual celebration of the World Fair Trade Day.

For 44 years in the Philippines, CCAP has taken huge strides in promoting fair trade to improve to quality of life of handicraft workers, especially those belonging to marginalized rural communities. True to CCAP’s advocacy to promote Fair Trade and livelihood development, proceeds from the event will assist marginalized communities and support the local crafts industry.

“We build resilient and sustainable communities by empowering the women, the mothers, and capacitating them with livelihood opportunities to uplift the economy of their families, and eventually their communities,” says CCAP Executive Director Voltaire Alferez.

“As much as we take pride in the quality of our products – adorning homes here and abroad, we care most for the artisans, and their families, that make them,” he adds. Proceeds from the event will assist marginalized communities and support the local crafts industry through CCAP’s programs.

The race will start at Harbor Square, Liwasang Ullalim, Pasay City. Assemby time is at 5:30 am, while gunstart starts at 6:00 am. Categories include 3k, 5k, and 10k. Parents can also join their children in the 500-meter dash making this event a race for the whole family to enjoy.

Online registration is ongoing. For more information on CCAP’s work and advocacies, visit www.ccapfairtrade.com or call CCAP at 712-2160 and 712-2169 and look for Jessy Gonzales.
