Obando Water District signed a joint venture agreement with Ayala-led Manila Water through its subsidiary, Obando Water Consortium Holdings Corporation (Obando Water) to improve the provision of water supply and sanitation services in the Municipality of Obando.
Expected to serve more than 50,000 people of the nine barangays serviced by Obando Water District, the partnership is set to undertake the design, construction, rehabilitation, operation, maintenance, financing, expansion and management of water facilities; as well as the delivery of water and sanitation services through a concession agreement.
Through the joint venture, Obando Water District and Obando Water will implement improvement programs that will soon enable customers to enjoy safe, reliable, continuous water supply 24 hours seven days a week. Enhancement plans will also ensure that water delivered to customers undergo a stringent process to adhere to the strict standards of the Philippine National Standards of Drinking Water.
Furthermore, Obando Water will ensure that operations and service efficiency measures will be set in place to increase access to water supply and sanitation services. This will allow the expansion of the water district’s service coverage, consequently serving more households and commercial customers in the municipality.
Manila Water through Obando Water will be bringing in its twenty years of vast technical experience and customer service expertise to the municipality of Obando much in the same way that it significantly transformed water systems through strategic partnerships in multiple locations in the Philippines and the Asian region.
This is Manila Water’s fourth alliance with a water district in the country, with initial partnerships with Zamboanga City Water District, Tagum City Water District, and Calasiao Water District for water system and supply projects.
Obando Water is a consortium between Manila Water and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, Inc., with the latter holding 51% of the issued and outstanding capital stock. Manila Water Philippine Ventures is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manila Water that expands the company’s expertise in areas wanting for improved water supply services and proper used water management services in the archipelago.
