Avon Philippines’ celebrity ambassadors donated their time and effort to come up with a video that emphasizes the importance of making a habit of breast self-examination (BSE) to detect breast cancer early, which comes in time for the commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October.
The project is part of Pink Minute – Avon Philippines’ Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) campaign for 2017. KGBC is now on its 15th year in the Philippines.
The video, which can be accessed on YouTube and Avon’s website, feature celebrity supporters Marian Rivera, Angel Locsin, Kathryn Bernardo, Jennylyn Mercado, Daniel Matsunaga, Rocco Nacino, Ruffa Gutierrez, Bettina Carlos, Jodi Sta. Maria, and Iza Calzado. The central message points out that one minute of BSE is all it takes to possibly save millions from breast cancer.
“The good thing about early detection through BSE is it’s so simple, easy, and quick to do. Imagine, something this simple can be just as powerful to possibly save millions of lives from breast cancer” said Jennylyn, who has been actively supporting Avon’s KGBC activities for years now.
Rocco Nacino is another consistent supporter of the cause and Avon’s advocacy, along with his mom Linda who is a breast cancer survivor herself. A registered nurse, Rocco wishes to become a doctor someday. For now, he vows to keep supporting breast cancer advocacy campaigns like Avon’s KGBC and Pink Minute.
Pink Minute emphasizes that the closest thing to getting a “cure” for breast cancer is through breast self-examination. The main video, which can be viewed publicly online via Avon Philippines’ website (http://avon.ph/) and through Avon Philippines’ social media (http://facebook.com/AvonPhilippines /http://youtube.com/user/AvonPhilippines /http://facebook.com/AvonPHKissGoodbyetoBreastCancer ), also include Avon Representatives who are cancer survivors.
KGBC and Pink Minute is in partnership with the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc. (PCSI), with the Avon Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Breast Cancer and the BCC support group as the beneficiary. To date, a total of Php 24-M has been raised through product sales, donations, and walk/run events in support of the crusade.
This year, Avon’s Sweet Honesty Promise Eau de Toilette Spray and pedometer watch are earmarked as fundraising products.
