“It’s Showtime” host and comedian Vhong Navarro cruises by Jeepney TV this May to spread laughter as the cable channel’s “Icon of the Month.”

The Streetboys alumnus shows his moves in “BTS: Vhong Navarro,” a behind-the-scene documentary special, and in “JTV Star Showcase,” an entertainment special on his memorable performances on TV. He also stars in “Sunday Hi-Way” with humorous films “Da Possessed” and “Gagamboy.”

Aside from Vhong’s variety of film personalities, other remarkable characters to return on Jeepney TV are Drama King Coco Martin’s “Juan” in “Juan dela Cruz” and Kapamilya Dyosa Anne Curtis’s “Imang” in “Kampanerang Kuba.”

In “Juan dela Cruz,” Juan is an orphan brought up towards goodness and faith upon Jesus. By the time he grows up as an adult, Juan joins the Kapatiran, a group composed of people who seek to destroy the Aswangs. Unknown to Juan, he is half-aswang, the son of the Haring Aswang, and the prophesied Anak ng Dilim. However, his mother is a Tagabantay, coming from an ancient lineage of defenders using the Bakal na Krus to protect the humans from the Aswangs.

Meanwhile in “Kampanerang Kuba,” Imang is a hunchback bellringer trying to find her way in life against the prejudice of others regarding her appearance. She soon finds out about her parentage but her selfish father sabotages her from attaining family. However, Imang introduces herself as another person with the help of an enchanted candle to which she turns attractive whenever lit.

Go on an adventure with Jeepney TV icon Vhong all Sundays of May with “Da Possessed,” on May 14, “Gagamboy” on May 21 and “BTS: Vhong Navarro” on May 28. Catch “Juan dela Cruz” every Saturday at 3PM and “Kampanerang Kuba” every Thursday and Friday at 2PM.

Jeepney TV is on SkyCable channel 9, Destiny Cable Analog 41 at Digital 9.
