ABS-CBN was recognized as a Valuable Partner for Education in the first-ever International Education Summit

ABS-CBN, the country’s leading media and entertainment company, has been recognized for its efforts to fill the gap between current practices in the media and what is taught in schools through the enhanced curriculum of the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts (ELJ CMA) Senior High School in Quezon City.

The company was given the Valuable Partner for Education award by the Schools Division of Quezon City in the first Quezon City International Education Summit in ceremonies held at Novotel in Cubao, Quezon City last September 11.

The ELJ CMA’s Work Immersion program, which is part of the curriculum developed with the help of ABS-CBN University, exposes senior high school students to actual creative and production processes, allowing them to apply the theories they learned in the classroom setting.

ABS-CBN’s chief content officer and ABS-CBN University president Charo Santos-Concio, who received the award, reiterated that the Kapamilya network is continuously seeking partnerships for community building particularly in the area of education.

“It is ABS-CBN’s mission to build a bright future for our students and we can act together to shape that future. Nelson Mandela once said that “education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world,” she said.

The ELJ CMA Senior High School is a project of ABS-CBN University in partnership with the Magna Anima Teachers College and the Department of Education (DepEd) based on a shared mission of developing creative, skilled, ethical, and globally competitive media practitioners through the K-12 program.

Built by Lopez-owned First Balfour, Inc., and staffed by Magna Anima Teachers College, headed by Fr. Tito Caluag, the high school building was inaugurated last May.
