ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime,” TV Patrol,” and “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” led the Kapamilya contingent in garnering honors at the 17th Kabantugan Awards held recently at the Mindanao State University – General Santos City Gym, while Kapamilya artists and movies were lauded at the 20th Gawad PASADO Awards at the National Teachers’ College.
“It’s Showtime” took home the Best Entertainment Show, “TV Patrol” won Best TV News Program, while “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” copped the Best TV Family Oriented Teleserye citation. Other winning programs include ABS-CBN’s long-running crime anthology “Ipaglaban Mo” as Best TV Investigative Program, morning show “Magandang Buhay” as Best TV Morning Show, and “Matanglawin” as Best Educational Program.
Taking home individual awards were Kapamilya stars Coco Martin, Maja Salvador, Joshua Garcia, and Bela Padilla, who were named Best TV Actor, Best TV Actress, Best Movie Actor, and Best Movie Actress, respectively. Completing the winners in the Kabantugan Awards is news anchor Ted Failon who was named Best Male TV News Anchor.
Meanwhile, Star Cinema’s “Seven Sundays” came away with the PinakaPASADONG Pelikula at the 20th Gawad PASADO Awards. Also in the winners list is Ketchup Eusebio as PinakaPASADONG Katuwang na Aktor award, Joshua Garcia as PinakaPASADONG Aktor sa Teleserye for “The Good Son,” and Sylvia Sanchez as PinakaPASADONG Aktres sa Teleserye for “Hanggang Saan.” Inigo Pascual and Maris Racal also received the PinakaPASADONG Dangal ng Kabataan award.
The Kabantugan Awards is an annual event held in Mindanao’s prestigious academic institutions that recognizes the exemplary media personalities and shows by networks all over the country. On the other hand, the Gawad PASADO awards is held by the Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro, a group of communications teachers who believe that film is an effective tool for teaching.
