Since their inception, Ciudad has endured several labels to describe the band and their music. Among others, they’ve been called ‘geek rock’ or ‘nerd pop’ by both the media and their fans. Formed in 1994, when they were barely into their teens, the band began as a school project.
This year, the band harks back to their younger sound with the release of their new single, “Caught Me At The Worst Time.” The song mingles the band’s earlier upbeat vibe, snarky lyrics, and heavy guitar duels with the maturity gleaned from producing more polished and sophisticated work.
“Get You Closer,” on the other hand, shows Ciudad’s softer side — mixing 70s and 80s yacht rock sensibilities with their signature catchy harmonies.
