Muntinlupa residents can now enjoy the convenience of cashless transactions within their city as the City Government of Muntinlupa, in partnership with the Lingkod Muntinlupa Foundation and PayMaya, officially launch today the MCC Plus, the expanded Muntinlupa Care Card (MCC), the country’s most advanced citizen card ID program to date.

At least 5,000 small businesses and merchants around Muntinlupa City will be enabled to accept PayMaya QR as a payment method as part of the expanded Muntinlupa Care Card (MCC) Plus program, dubbed as “the most advanced LGU citizen card” which enables residents to do online shopping, bills payment, prepaid load reloading, as well as remittances, on top of serving as a benefits and rewards card for more convenient access to government services such as the capability to avail of free e-Jeepney rides around the city by simply tapping their MCC Plus. Student scholars, senior citizens, and small businesses, among others, can now have access to the new MCC Plus card, a two-in-one card that combines an ordinary ID card with the technology and capabilities of a PayMaya prepaid payment card.

Through the new MCC Plus card, Muntinlupa residents will be able to easily receive cash benefits and allowances from the city government.

For merchant payments, transportation

But aside from receiving funds into their MCC Plus cards, they will also be able to use their accounts to pay for goods and services in at least 5,000 small businesses and beneficiaries of the Joint Resources Financing Program zero interest loan of the city who will be equipped with PayMaya QR as a payment method.

Moreover, Muntinlupa residents can also avail of free rides to the e-Jeepneys plying the city by simply tapping their MCC Plus cards into the terminals found inside the vehicles.

“As we work towards building a ‘cashless Philippines’, we need the support of communities like Muntinlupa in order to build ecosystems that will support this vision around the country. We congratulate Muntinlupa City for being one of the first, and now one of the most advanced, adopters of cashless technologies that will truly empower their citizens,” said PayMaya Philippines President and CEO Orlando B. Vea. PayMaya is the digital financial arm of PLDT and Smart’s Voyager Innovations.

There are three kinds of MCC Plus: Red Card for senior citizens, Yellow Card for ages 18 to 59, and Blue Card for 6 to 17 years old.

To register for the MCC Plus, Muntinlupa residents simply have to go to the registration centers at the City Hall or the Ospital ng Muntinlupa, present one valid ID and pay the card registration fee of P60 for Red Card, P80 for Yellow Card and P75 for Blue Card. For Blue Card application, the parent or guardian must enroll the minor applicant. Card membership is valid for four years, after which the card must be renewed yearly for only P50. Renewal is free for senior citizens and PWD.

Cashless convenience on mobile

Aside from enabling them to transact within the city, MCC Plus cards linked to their PayMaya accounts can also be used to shop online and in-store, to pay for bills, and even to buy prepaid load from all networks using the PayMaya app available at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Should they find a need to add money to their accounts, they may do so via the more than 20,000 Add Money touchpoints available nationwide, including Smart Padala centers, SM Business Centers, Robinsons Business Centers inside Robinsons Department Stores, 7-Eleven Outlets, Touchpay Kiosks, UnionBank ATMs, Shopwise, Wellcome, 2Go, ExpressPay, Cebuana Lhuillier, Palawan Pawnshop branches, Smart Padala centers, BDO, UnionBank Online, RCBC Online Banking, and financial institutions that are part of InstaPay, among many others.
