Love is in the air in the season 2 premier of Gina Lopez’s “G Diaries” this Sunday (February 11) as Maris Racal and Inigo Pascual let viewers join in their Valentine’s date in the scenic province of Samar.
Fondly called “MarNigo” by the fans of their loveteam, the duo are the first featured celebrities or “G Squad” members in the program, which aims to spread love for the people and the environment by showcasing the products and projects of local communities in some of the most beautiful places in the Philippines.
In the pilot episode, Iñigo takes reel and real-life partner Maris to Samar’s hidden treasures, like the Sohoton Cave and Natural Bridge, where they will go caving, kayaking, and swimming. They also visit Soab Cave where the women “Tikog” weavers display their colorful woven crafts. “Tikog” is a tradition of mat weaving that has been passed down from generation to generation, and has helped local residents send their children to school and earn extra income.
With Gina, the former secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Maris and Iñigo get to witness firsthand how the people of Samar, a province terribly hit by Typhoon Yolanda, have worked hand-in-hand to rehabilitate their hometown and protect the environment. One of the groups that have provided support to the people of Samar is the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc., which has assisted the communities from relief operations during and after the typhoon, to livelihood projects via its Bantay Kalikasan arm to help typhoon victims rebuild their lives.
In the program’s launch held last January 22, Gina said the program will show what people can achieve when working together, and joining her in this advocacy are ABS-CBN stars like Maris and Iñigo, who as “G Squad” members will be touring the country and spreading the love with her.
“We will show how each community has done it and show that things can be done. We will show the heroism of the community, the government, and businesses, and what can be achieved when people work together from a space of love,” she said.
Don’t miss the return of “G Diaries” on February 11 (Sunday), 10:30 am before “ASAP” on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD. Watch online via iwantv.com.ph or skyondemand.com.ph. The program airs every second Sunday of the month on ABS-CBN and will also be shown on cable television via Lifestyle Network and ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.
