Singapore-based electronic dance music producer MMXJ, is back with an uplifting, dreamy single, Faith, via Oceana Label.
Known for putting out lush, thumping dance tracks veering towards tropical house, the latest single, Faith, draws upon the rich experiences of the artist on his travels. The video is an expansive effort, taking the viewer on an enthralling journey across different lands – from sequoia mountains to velvet deserts, and meandering highways that cut across swathes of open country. Ultimately, Faith’s message is one of recognising greater purpose: things will work out eventually no matter how far away one’s goals seem to be.
Curiously, of his travels, MJ cites particular inspiration from a holiday spent in the idyllic enclave of Hawaii as being the reference for the single.
“I instantly felt a connection to the island and felt this overwhelming sense of peace and calm, as if everything had fallen into place and was going to work out. The more I worked on the track, the more I felt that everything was going to be OK; it was truly a magical feeling.”
Layered under his signature feel-good running melodies, MJ crafts a blend of optimism and sentimentalism that has been his calling card – the artist has also worked with well-known singers both local (Gentle Bones, Gareth Fernandez) and international (Ina Bravo, Shel Bee). The DJ, who helmed the turntable decks at Zoukout previously, also has an album licensed to tech titan Garena for use top downloaded mobile game M-Star.
Faith is now available for digital ordering at the following links: iTunes, Spotify, Deezer.
