MNL48—the first-ever Filipina idol group formed via “It’s Showtime”—has released its debut single under Star Music entitled “Aitakatta – Gustong Makita,” the local version of the big hit “Aitakatta” performed by its sister group and Japan’s phenomenal musical act, AKB48.
“Aitakatta – Gustong Makita” will be part of MNL48’s debut album, also under Star Music, which is already in the works and will be launched in 2019.
The sing-and-dance group MNL48 was formed through the efforts of ABS-CBN and Hallohallo Entertainment, with members carefully selected through the four-month talent search in “It’s Showtime.”
In the media conference held at Movie Stars Café in Quezon City, MNL48 gave a sneak peek on the soon-to-be released music video for “Aitakatta.”
The video was shot in Intramuros and Manila Bay to showcase local historical places. It was inspired by the original music video of AKB48’s “Aitakatta – Gustong Makita,” aiming to show Filipinos what an idol really means.
Aside from “Aitakatta – Gustong Makita,” MNL48’s upcoming debut album will include the tracks “Sakura no Hanabiratachi – Talulot ng Sakura” and “Skirt Hirari – Umiindak na Saya,” plus instrumental versions of the three songs.
Fans can catch the MNL48 girls on their daily online show, MNLife and MNLaugh, live on MNL48’s official Facebook page (@mnl48official) and YouTube Channel (MNL48) every 6PM. The shows are hosted by “It’s Showtime’s” Hashtag members Luke Conde, Maru Delgado, Nikko Natividad, and Zeus Collins. MNLife airs every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while MNLaugh airs every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
