Moira dela Torre, JK Labajo and Maymay Entrata bagged the three most coveted awards at the MOR Pinoy Music Awards 2018 held last Saturday (July 21) at the Araneta Coliseum.
JK, also known as juan karlos, brought home the Album of the Year award for “JKL” and the OPM Revival of the Year award for “Beautiful Girl.”
Maymay won Song of the Year for “Shanawa” and thanked her colleagues and fans through a video message.
Female Artist of the Year went to “Titibo-tibo” singer, Moira Dela Torre.
MOR 101.9 also recognized veteran songwriter Vehnee Saturno, who was named this year’s OPM Lifetime Achievement awardee. His prolific songwriting career, which spans 38 years, was given a moving tribute by some of the most recognizable voices in OPM, Jaya, Daryl Ong, Jessa Zaragoza, Bugoy Drilon, Jona, and Erik Santos, who sang some of his well-known hits like “Dahil Tanging Ikaw,” ‘Bakit Pa Ba,” “Bakit Pa,” “Sana Kahit Minsan,” “Til My Heartaches End,” and “Forever’s Not Enough.”
Viral rap group Ex Batallion, meanwhile, became the first Digital Artist of the Year, which was introduced this year to acknowledge the role that social media and digital online platforms play in promoting original Pinoy music.
Iñigo Pascual took home the Male Artist of the Year award, while his love team partner Maris Racal was named Best New Artist.
Jona and Boyband PH also won Best Collaboration of the Year for their song “Til the End of Time,” while TNT Records singer Noven Belleza won LSS of the Year for “Tumahan Ka Na.”
Cebu’s Karencitta was awarded Regional Song of the Year for “Cebuana,” and Cherifer took the Kantamercial of the Year award.
MOR aims to celebrate the best in OPM based on the total votes, of its radio listeners, the MOR Awards Committee, the OPM Board members, and chosen OPM artists.
It was also announced at the event that MOR is uniting its 17 stations nationwide for “One Pinas, One MOR,” which will bring one sound and one vibe to all the listeners in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
