Welsh alt-folk artist Novo Amor is set to perform in Indonesia for the first time for The 8th Music Gallery at Kuningan City, Jakarta on March 10th.
Novo Amor released ‘Heiress’, a collaborative album with Brighton-bred songwriter and producer Ed Tullett on November 10th via All Points. The album features the poignant single “Terraform”, the visually stunning video was filmed in Indonesia and depicts the unbelievably hard lives of the Sulphur Porters of Ijen and their families.
The Sulphur Porters of Ijen work in some of the toughest conditions you can imagine, doing the most physical of jobs: mining. Every day they face highly toxic fumes, a treacherous landscape and carry an immense weight up an almost vertical rock wall, all for one single purpose; to provide a future for their loved ones. Video makers Sil & Jorik have set up Ijen Assistance to provide funds to help in the region with the aim of improving the lives of the porters and their families, including facilitating the education of the miner’s children so that they don’t have to follow in their parent’s footsteps. Novo Amor & Ed Tullett will be giving a percentage of revenue from the track to the cause.
Novo Amor, alias Welsh multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Ali Lacey, released his EP ‘Bathing Beach’ via Believe Records on May 26th, 2017. Hailing from deep in the Welsh mountains, Novo Amor’s music is beautiful, melancholic and liable to transport the listener to another realm. Lacey’s emotive vocals and the sounds he uses, often formed through sonic experimentation, make for fantastically atmospheric songs that are both moving and striking.
