Last October 28, more than a hundred people gathered to celebrate “Martha Cecilia Day” with The Eirycats, the romance diva’s group of loyal fans-turned-friends. That special day was the 25th anniversary of Martha Cecilia as a romance writer. Precious Pages Corporation, publisher of Precious Hearts Romances decided to launch her last novel: The Farmer and the Heiress, written in 2014 and completed by her daughters Nina Martinne and Tsina Cajayon. The event was held at The Space at the 4th floor of JRich Corporate Center in Sto. Domingo Avenue, Quezon City.
The Farmer and the Heiress is about Elleana Syquia, a young, beautiful, rich girl, who was born and raised in London. Her parents own the biggest sugar cane and corn plantation in the Ilocos region. Her grand life soon takes a turn when her mother dies. She has to leave London to manage their hacienda. There she meets Felipe, the vilest man she has ever met. But this arrogant man is also temptingly handsome. Felipe is a farmer…
“Natapos ko ang book na maraming pagtigil, may mysterious part, nakakaiyak, nakaka-in love,” says Malou Galviso, in one of her posts on Facebook about the book. “Done reading… ang ganda super ganda… na miss ko yung mga gawa ni MC. Ung malalim na Tagalog iba tlga tatak Martha Cecilia… Nakakalungkot lng na ito na ung huling gawa ni MC but still nag iisang Martha Cecilia yan at kahit kailan di malalaos at kahit kailan di makakalimutan ang mga akda nya. imiss MC truly. Salamat sa pagkakataon na makapunta at maka-attend sa #MCDAY #ParaSiempre… ” says Abegail Azuela after reading the book.
MC Day’s theme was coachella. Guests came in their summer shorts or Bohemian-inspired outfits. The event started on time with special gifts given to early birds: special discounts given to the first 25 who regisrered, and loot bags to the first 100 who arrived. The program included video clips, games, raffle, interview and book signing with Nina Martinne, and the most-awaited part—the book cover reveal. Even the closest of fans and friends of the romance diva had not seen the book before its unveiling.
Overall, the MC Day brought a lot of memories; it was also a very happy day for Martha Cecilia’s readers and friends. Every one was looking forward to next year’s celebration. The Farmer and the Heiress is now available at all branches of Precious Pages Store, National Book Store, Precious Shop online store and other bookstores.
