The Barangay and SK candidates of San Roque, Northern Samar for the coming May 14 elections recently signed a covenant promising a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
The candidates agreed that it is in the best interest of their communities that clean elections be supported, to help push their hometown towards true progress. It is the time for meaningful changes and unity among all those who wish to serve in local positions to be good examples of fair and honest conduct.
Among the items that they promised to uphold are to support the government’s platform for change, and to discourage corrupt practices such as vote-buying. They also promise to work hand in hand with local government to fulfill their responsibilities to the fullest if elected.
The signing of the covenant last April 24, 2018 was witnessed by COMELEC Officer Rolando C. Arellano, Jorge B. Durom MLGOO/DILG, 1Lt. Gicky B. Galanido (Inf) of the Philippine Army, and San Roque Municipal Police Station OIC PSI Jemaimah May Cardenas.
In his speech, Mayor Don L. Abalon of the Municipality of San Roque assured all efforts towards a clean elections. He said that the local government unit will not use its influence on the electoral outcome.
