The Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Blood Center (PBC) recently honored global BPO giant Sitel Philippines with the Antonio Luna Award as a “blood donation hero” for collecting over 200 voluntary blood donations this year.
The PBC, the government blood bank of the DOH, collects blood through mobile blood donations from voluntary donors. They ensure that donations are safe and ready for hospital use. In the past few years, the PBC has been working with private organizations to collect as much blood as possible, to make sure the blood bank is amply stocked.
The blood that PBC gets from donors in the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighboring regions is used in transfusions and other medical procedures. Sitel associates and their relatives have been among those who have benefitted from the PBC blood bank.
Melody Favis, Sitel Philippines Human Resource Director, shared that Sitel has been participating in the blood donation drive since 2015. “The award is a wonderful recognition of our efforts, but it’s not why we join the yearly blood drive. Our goal is to give back to the community and help whenever we can,” Favis said.
