Thousands of Filipino children are going to school this June with greater hope and excitement after receiving brand new bags and school supplies through the “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” project of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc.’s (ALKFI) Operation Sagip.

Like last year, Operation Sagip has been going around different elementary schools in the country to distribute learning kits to students and further inspire them to pursue their education.

As of May 30, the team has already given away 62,892 bags to school-aged children in provinces as far as Abra in Luzon, Samar in Visayas, and Tawi Tawi in Mindanao. A total of 105,000 kids are expected to benefit in the project this school year.

Jun Dungo, the head of ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service and director of Operation Sagip, thanked donors for once again supporting the “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” project, and for believing in the mission of the campaign.

“The future of the country is in the hands of our youth. We hope that through this project, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya is able to help ensure a bright future for the nation by encouraging our children to learn, stay in school, and finish their studies. None of these would be possible if not for the continued support of our partner-individuals and organizations,” he said.

While “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” was launched only in 2017, Operation Sagip has been active in championing the education of Filipino youth through its classroom construction projects and “Ronda Eskwela,” a project similar to “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral.”

Apart from the areas mentioned above, the project has also reached Mountain Province, Occidental Mindoro, Apayao, Ilocos Sur, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna in Luzon; Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Leyte, Bohol, Biliran, Eastern Samar, and Iloilo in Visayas; and Lanao Del Norte, Sulu, Bukidnon, Surigao Del Norte, Surigao Del Sur, Davao Oriental, Zamboanga Del Norte, and Compostela Valley in Mindanao.
