Uber Utilizes Technology To Enhance Safety For Its Users

Since its inception, technology has driven Uber to help users get from one place to another, and from there, create lasting memories. More importantly, updates and innovations have enabled Uber to create safer experiences for both its riders and drivers.

The tech company is rolling out another in-app feature that will further enhance the user experience: Rider Identification. Through this add-on, new riders who do not own credit cards or any electronic payment method can instead verify their identity by connecting their app to their Facebook account. This will not only allow riders who prefer cash-based trips to register with the app, but also assure drivers of who their riders are.

Created in partnership with the LTFRB and other government agencies, Uber’s Rider Identification also stems from the feedback given by their driver-partners. “The LTFRB is supportive of Uber’s initiative to launch Rider Identification, as this is one of the outcomes of our Safety and Security Technical Working Group meetings conducted together with the TNCs, TNVS leaders, PNP-HPG, MMDA, and Red Cross,” said LTFRB Board Member Aileen Lizada. “This will hopefully provide an additional layer of security for our TNVS drivers who provide service to the riding public.”

With the Philippines leading the roll-out of this new feature in Asia, Uber continues to strengthen its commitment to help keep all their users safe before, during, and after every trip.
