Pasayenos’ Choice: Edward Togonon For Mayor!

Few weeks from now, Pasay City will finally regain its lost glory when Pasayenos declare their all-out support to mayoralty candidate Edward Togonon by voting straight Tropang Togonon.

Togonon may be a new face in the political arena of Pasay City but he is indubitably a veteran in taking steps to improve the living condition of people. He has had achieved so much for the welfare of people during his stint in the Department of Justice. He was chief prosecutor of Manila prior to his decision to seek public office.

“I am not supposed to retire yet as chief prosecutor of Manila. Truth is, many offers came to me for a higher post in the judiciary but my strong desire to help the people in Pasay has led me to take this step,” Togonon said.

The heartbreaking situation of the city, which is considered as the eighth richest local government unit, fueled Togonon’s desire to step in politics. The residents are supporting his candidacy to take the city out of corruption and poverty.

Small wonder, every barangay townhall meeting of Tropang Togonon was crowded with people. They wanted to know straight from Togonon the various plans of the blue team for their beloved city.

Survey results can easily be padded but photos of people attending Tropang Togonon’s political assembly show the real proof of Pasayenos’ choice. Togonon is the top choice.

Togonon is an opponent hard to beat. He has excellent credentials for the job. He was prosecutor for 32 years, including 14 years of service as Pasay City fiscal, 13 years as chief prosecutor of Muntinlupa City and six years as Manila chief prosecutor. He also became the president of Pasay City Prosecutors’ League and was a two-time president of the National Prosecutors League of the Philippines. He was also president of the Chief Prosecutors Association. Togonon was also instrumental in the passing into law the National Prosecution Service Law or RA 10071. He worked as a reporter of the Philippine News Agency while taking up law.

Togonon is a man of action. His objectives for Pasay City are all favorable to the residents. Their welfare is the top concern of Tropang Togonon.

Among his priority projects are healthcare, education, senior citizens’ welfare, livelihood, nutrition, crime prevention, curb the use of illegal drugs, peace and order, cleanliness.

Togonon sees the utmost importance of giving Pasay residents a clean, free from all medical fees at Pasay General Hospital. He plans to put up two modern clinics in Districts 1 and 2. He also plans to modernize and provide the necessary medical equipment for Pasay General Hospital.

In terms of education, Togonon will assure additional allowance to students in public and private schools without delay.

Senior citizens will enjoy benefits due them and they will no longer have to queue and wait for long hours just to receive their benefits. Togonon will also make sure that senior benefits will be delivered to their homes.

Feeding programs for the children will be held regularly particularly at breakfast time.

He will immediately attend to issues on traffic and cleanliness of the whole of Pasay including the marketplace.

Togonon will do his best to put an end to proliferation of illegal drugs in the city. He is all out in supporting the rehabilitation of users in order for them to reform. Job opportunities will likewise be provided to them to start a new life.

Togonon will also strictly implement Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Waste Management Act. He will order the cleaning and rehabilitation of esteros, canals and other water ways in the city.

The red tape in the government will banish as Togonon is very well aware that it is the root of illegal activities that affects the businessmen in the city to thrive. Corruption in the government will certainly be eradicated with Togonon assuring Pasay City residents of financial reports when he sits as the city mayor.

With running mate, lawyer Jose Allan Mendez Tebelin for vice mayor, former Pasay City prosecutor Elmer Mitra for congressman and several candidates for councilors, Togonon is optimistic that Pasay will soon move forward.
