Whether it’s livestreaming a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, purchasing your next dinner, binge-watching your favorite TV show or donating to a worthy cause, you need something to power your passion.
GCash, the Philippines’ leading mobile wallet, understands this. On a rainy Sunday afternoon, GCash fired up thousands of its young, upbeat users as it co-presented with Globe the much-anticipated YouTube Fanfest Manila 2019.
The biggest YouTube stars in the Philippines gathered at the Mall of Asia Arena on May 26 for a day of fun and free-flowing entertainment. Their fans braved the summer downpour for a chance to get selfie-close and truly personal with the collection of local talents, many of whom have reached rock star status that would be the envy of, well, rock stars!
Pinoy online loveteam JaMill’s performance at the festival reached more than one million views in less than 24 hours and became the #1 trending video on YouTube in the Philippines, to the delight of the couple, JayZam Manabat and Camille Trinidad.
In a Big Brother-inspired skit, beauty bloggers Lou Sanchez, Mae Layug and Helen on Fleek took time off from posting budget-friendly makeup tips and style recommendations to prove that one could be glamorous and LOL-level funny at the same time.
Not to be outdone, vloggers Benedict Cua, Kyo Quijano, Luigi Pacheco and Rozel Basilio displayed their acting and comedic chops in a classroom skit that left everyone in stitches.
No festival will be complete without a bevy of musical talents that included Lesha Litonjua, the first Pinoy to win in the YouTube original series for Best Cover Ever and had the chance to collaborate with Joe Jonas; songbird Janine Tenoso who serenaded everyone with her popular covers; New Zealand-based social media sensation Kimpoy Feliciano, who charmed the crowd with a viral-worthy performance; and internet vocal powerhouse Sam Mangubat who proved once more why his videos regularly garner millions of views.
GCash was in on the fun by giving away Php1,000.00 worth of GCash vouchers. All the participants had to do was take a creative selfie with its lovable mascot GCat, post the photo with the event hashtag #YTFFPH, and tag the official GCash account on Instagram.
Outside the main performance area, hundreds visited the GCash booth to take part in the festival’s exclusive contests. Those who downloaded the GCash app on their mobile devices had a chance to play for exciting prizes.
The Snap Money booth was a big hit, with contest winners taking home a Fujifilm X-T20 mirrorless camera, a DJI OSMO pocket stabilized camera and an Instax mini 9 instant camera—the necessities for future vloggers.
With YouTube Fanfest Manila 2019, GCash recognizes how YouTube Creators and the people who support them are making the online space a legitimate stage for dreamers, whether in the field of entertainment, beauty, comedy or fashion.
