This July, ABS-CBN Films-Star Cinema brings the once in a lifetime tandem of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards on the big screen through ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye.’
Helmed by the blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina, ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ is a film about Joy (Kathryn) and Ethan (Alden), two modern OFWs set in the bustling high of cramped Hong Kong that are destined to change each other’s lives forever.
Joy, a domestic helper who still dreams of succeeding to live a greater life far from her depraved childhood, meets bartender Ethan, a sweetheart playboy who is already building a permanent life in Hong Kong. Soon, they develop a friendship and become each other’s joy against the grime and grind of the city. So much that when lonely nights come, they fully surrender to each other’s comfort while the thought of “this is just ‘for now,’ we are not permanent” exists.
They wonder, can their “for now” turn to forever? However, what happens when Joy’s dreams must take her away from Ethan? What is the cost of wanting more?
“It was my first time to let my actors live like what their character really is. Especially with Kathryn, since she plays the role of a DH, we treated her like one,” Direk Cathy shares.
“I am happy that they (Kathryn and Alden) are professional enough to accept my conditions,” she adds.
“We really immersed. I did bartending for a night. We really had to feel how to be like them (OFWs),” says Alden.
For Kathryn, she “embraced the life in Hong Kong.”
“Now, I respect the OFWs even more. My three weeks there seemed like years,” she states.
‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ is a story by Carmi Raymundo, who was also behind the recent blockbuster hits like ‘My Ex And Whys,’ ‘Finally Found Someone,’ and ‘The Hows Of Us’ that was also with Kathryn and Direk Cathy.
It is set to open in theaters nationwide starting July 31.
