Successfully organizing and producing any event for five years in a row is no joke! The Gubat Sorsogon Surfriders Association, Inc. or GSSA has done just that with it’s Lunad sa Balod (“Ride the Waves”) National Surfing Competition and Music Festival held at Buenavista Surf Camp, Gubat, Sorsogon every year.

This year, the event starts on October 25, 2019 with the surf competition at 6:00 am and opening ceremony at 9:00 am and ends on October 27, 2019 with the awards night and music festival finale.

Organized in partnership with the locals of Barangay Buenavista, the Local Government Unit of Gubat, Sorsogon, the Provincial Government of Sorsogon and as part of the province’s annual Kasanggayahan Festival celebration, Lunad sa Balod brings in a huge number of visitors and participants. Hotels and resorts are fully booked and restaurants are jam-packed with walk-in guests coming in for this three-day event.

Through the years, Lunad sa Balod has strengthened the bonds within the Philippine surfing community. Competitors come from all over the country not just to compete but also to enjoy time with friends from different surf spots. A high caliber judging team and technical staff guarantees the quality level of the surf competition.

Lunad sa Balod is also only one of the few national surf competitions with women’s categories. And in support of the Filipino surf athlete, winners will receive a total of P303,000.00 in cash prizes and up to P100,000.00 worth of goodies and products.

With a 3 day event pass of only P100.00, attendees experience the national surf competition, the surf clinic, the vendor’s fare and the Lunad sa Balod Eco-Challenge during the day time as well as three nights of the music festival. Main acts and performers include FRANCO on Night 3 (October 27), Slowdough on Night 2 (October 26), Urduja on Night 1 (October 25) and with DJs SELEKTAH NORRIS KING of Legal Shot Sound System France, MASTA-T•T-KASH of Big Answer Sound System Japan & MC RAS TARO of Irie Sunday Manila for both Nights 2 & 3.

Given this powerhouse combination of surf and music, we hope to SEA you soon at Buenavista Surf Camp!
