The construction of the 5,000-sq.m Presidential Security Group (PSG) Station Hospital in Malacanang Park has begun, following the groundbreaking ceremony held in early April. Funded by Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation (MRP Foundation), the hospital construction is part of MRP Foundation’s long-term and sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) undertakings to support various environmental and health programs, in conjunction with the mandate of PAGCOR, which has been supporting the PSG Station Hospital project through the efforts of PAGCOR Chair Andrea Domingo. In 2017, also with the support of PAGCOR, the Foundation committed Php 12 million to the health programs of the Paranaque City government in 2017.
MRP Foundation was established by Melco Resorts and Entertainment (Philippines), the listed and parent company of Melco Resorts Leisure (PHP) Corporation which operates the luxury integrated resort City of Dreams Manila.
Located at the corner of President Magsaysay and President Quirino Streets in Paco, Manila, the two-storey hospital, when completed by 2020, is set to offer expanded infrastructure and facilities that will feature an emergency room, an out-patient department, a laboratory, a dental complex, radiology/imaging area, a hyperbaric treatment complex, neuro and physical services, a nursing unit or ward, private rooms, and a presidential suite.
Melco Resorts Philippines Chairman and President Clarence Yuk Man Chung and Senior Vice President and COO Kevin Benning officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony with PSG Group Commander BGen. Jose Eriel Niembra, Deputy Group Commander Col. Potenciano Camba, Chief of Staff Col. Freddie Dela Cruz; and PSG Station Hospital Commanding Officer Col. Joel Enrico Anastacio. With them were Belle Corporation Vice Chairman Willy Ocier and Executive Vice President Armin Raquel-Santos; D.M. Consunji, Inc. President and CEO Jorge Consunji and Managing Director David Villaviray; D.A. Abcede and Associates Vice President Dennis Abcede Jr.; Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corporation Assistant Vice President for Finance Ameriza Gabriel; and Department of Health Architect for Health Facility and Infrastructure Development Ariel Magbanua.
Alongside MRP Foundation’s continuous environmental and health-related undertakings are other long-term initiatives of City of Dreams Manila’s CSR employee volunteerism program, which reflects the integrated resort’s commitment to create a positive impact to the communities it partners with. These include participating in the refurbishing of classrooms through the Department of Education’s “Brigada Eskwela;” annual blood donations for Red Cross; distribution of relief goods to the disaster-stricken; provisions of basic needs for orphans and street children under the “Spoonful of Dreams” program; as well as educational sessions for children under the “Headful of Dreams” program.
The integrated luxury resort also has the “Connecting Dreams” program, where employees volunteer to spend a special time with the elderly; “Hopeful of Dreams” for hospital visits with indigent patients; and “Growing Dreams,” which focuses on environmental protection and complements the integrated resort’s various projects on sustainability under the “Sustainable Dreams” program.
