Aimed at encouraging our national esports athletes to haul in several gold medals for the Philippines, Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) launches its “Get Gold!” campaign, which offers cash incentives to Sibol athletes and their coaches and managers for every gold medal won, namely:
PHP 2 million cash prize for team events (Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor), and PHP 1 million cash prize for individual events (Tekken 7, Hearthstone, Star Craft 2).
“This is a huge milestone for esports, and it is our greatest honor to support the best Filipino gamers as they prove that we have the talent, skill, and drive to dominate this increasingly growing scene,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT Chief Revenue Officer and current President of Smart Communications, Inc.
Sibol is comprised of veterans in their respective games, brought together to heed the call of flag and country as our representatives. United through the battle cry “Lakad Matatag“, the national team aims for the very top of SEA Games competition, walking strong and proud no matter the challenge.
As a stalwart in the Philippine esports and gaming scene, Smart is fully committed in its support to the team through several initiatives.
To further enable Sibol’s quest for gold, Smart has also opened the doors of the Smart Sibol Training Ground to the team, making it their headquarters and fitted with the latest mobile network innovations. The team’s training doesn’t end there, as there will be pocket tournaments and test events in the coming weeks to ensure Sibol is honed to fighting form for the SEA Games.
“We are very happy that Smart is joining us in our first outing with Sibol – no less than the 30th SEA Games! With the combined efforts of Smart and their Get Gold! program, as well as our other partners and the whole country, we believe that Sibol now has taken firm root and will be able to face all challenges that come their way on their path to victory,” said Ms. Jane Jimenez Basas, PSEU co-Chairman.
Smart’s support for Sibol is but the latest in its storied history of championing the Philippine esports.
Since 2013, Smart has consistently provided a platform for Filipino gamers to showcase their talent and skill at grassroots and world-class esports events, such as the annual Esports and Gaming Summit, The Philippine Clash 2015, ESL One in 2016, Manila Masters and the Smart Mobile Gaming League in 2017, the Road to the Nationals in 2018, and The Nationals, the country’s first franchise-based esports league.
