Toby’s Sports, the leading sports retailer in the Philippines, in partnership with adidas, ran an action-filled show of ballers with the hottest hands at the Toby’s Sports Flagship Store in Bonifacio Global City last July 7, with thirty-two top shooters going head-to-head during the Toby’s x adidas Shootout King Finals.
Rizal native Jonathan Constantino reinforced his reign as he racked up the best scores throughout the five-round event, eventually being named Shootout King.
For the entire month of June, hundreds of shooters from across Metro Manila put their shooting skills to the test at the Toby’s Sports flagship store’s very own PLAYZone, an interactive space inside the store that doubles as a basketball court, utilizing a professional-grade shooting machine. Participants staked their claim to the throne by scoring as many points as possible out of the 24 shot attempts. Following the conclusion of the one-month challenge, which is the first event tie-up between Toby’s Sports and adidas Philippines, the Top 32 scorers were invited to compete in the finals.
Jonathan Constantino started playing at the age of 5. Through the years, he just fell in love with the game where he saw himself participating in various basketball competitions and even forming friendships with people who share the same passion. In fact, he learned about the Shootout King challenge from his hoopers’ circle.
“I didn’t expect to go home a champion! For me, being part of the top 32 and receiving adidas and Toby’s Sports merchandise make me a winner already,” Jonathan shared. Coming from the fourth seed, he was hailed king, and took home Php 50,000.
A southpaw, Jonathan tries to pattern his game with another lefty he looks up to – NBA star James Harden. For him, it was his consistency that helped him own the throne. He also commends Toby’s Sports and adidas for gathering basketball enthusiasts for a day of celebrating Filipinos’ mad love for basketball.
Aside from the finalists, UAAP Season ‘81 MVP Bright Akhuetie dropped by and entertained the guests with his sharp shooting skills. Toby Claudio, President of Quorum International Inc., the parent company of Toby’s Sports, was also on hand to congratulate the finalists.
“We are so excited to have partnered with adidas, which is arguably one of the biggest sports brands in the world, for this exciting event that highlights our love for the game of basketball. As the largest multi-brand sports retailer in the country, we are always on the lookout for opportunities like this to create deeper connections with our customers,” Claudio said.
