The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute’s (DOST-SEI) announces the extension of the application period for its 2021 Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) Program. Applications will now be accepted up to November 30, 2021.

DOST-SEI made the call to allow aspiring scholars to complete their requirements given the challenges brought by the pandemic. The Institute notified the DOST Regional Offices, Provincial Science and Technology Centers, and network universities thru a memorandum.

“The additional month will allow students to secure their documentary requirements and complete the process via the E-Application System,” said DOST-SEI Director Dr. Josette Biyo.

The JLSS is among DOST-SEI’s undergraduate scholarship programs, which aims to support education of third year college students enrolled in priority science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses from identified academic institutions. It has three component programs: a) RA 7687 program, which is meant for socioeconomically challenged students; b) Merit program, which is aimed at students with high aptitude in STEM; and c) RA 10612, a program that aims to accelerate the production of science and mathematics teachers in secondary schools.
