Erik Santos vocalizes the longing for the warmth and company of loved ones in his new Christmas single “Paskong Kayakap Ka,” released under ABS-CBN’s Star Music.
“Dahil sa pandemya, maraming tao tayong nami-miss at gustong makasama at mayakap na matagal na nating hindi nakikita—Kapamilya, malalapit na kaibigan, kasintahan, at mga mahal sa buhay. Ngayong darating na kapaskuhan, sino ang gusto mong kayakap?” Erik shared on Instagram along with a photo and video of him with his family.
“Paskong Kayakap Ka” was written and composed by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo and expresses one’s desire to be with the special people in his life to make the Christmas celebration more special. It is accompanied by a soft piano instrumental that sets the song’s nostalgic mood.
On YouTube, netizens turned sentimental as they share how they can relate to the song having spent Christmas without their loved ones for years now.
“Sobra naman ‘to huhu. 8 years na palang ‘di ko kasama mother ko, another Christmas na wala siya,” Julius Daganzo commented.
“Pang-6th year na hindi kasama family sa Pasko. OFW from Taiwan,” Ricky Parco said.
Last October, the ‘King of OPM Theme Songs’ dropped his version of the worship song “Sigaw Ng Puso” about fully submitting to God’s will despite experiencing overwhelming distresses. He is regularly seen as a host and performer on “ASAP Natin ‘To.”
