Filinvest Development Corp. responds to the call of its partner local government units who aims to ramp up vaccination for their communities. FDC donated 2,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to the Office of the Mayor of Cebu City for New Normal Oasis Adaptation for a Home (NOAH), Cebu City’s vaccination program.
The donation is part of FILVAX, the conglomerate-wide vaccination program that aims to support the government’s vaccination initiative as the country moves forward to become COVID-free. The Filinvest group aims to inoculate 100% of its employees across all its businesses including real estate, hospitality, banking, infrastructure, power and utilities by the fourth quarter of 2021 aligned with its 2021 workplace herd immunity goal. FilVax kicked off its Visayas leg last August 28 which benefitted employees and third-party service providers from Filinvest Land, EastWest Bank, and Chroma Hospitality’s Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan and Quest Hotel and Conference Center Cebu. The said employees and extended workers will receive the company-procured Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines. To date, it has inoculated 83 percent of its workforce, with 60 percent fully-vaccinated and 40 percent with their first dose.
“This donation is a testament to Filinvest’s commitment to becoming the government’s reliable partner in progress in the fight against COVID-19. It has always been our advocacy to extend assistance in communities where we operate. We are happy to help empower Cebu City to vaccinate more Cebuanos and give an extra layer of protection against COVID-19,” said Filinvest Land Director Francis Gotianun.
A turnover and cooperation agreement signing ceremony for the donation of AstraZeneca vaccine doses was held today at the NOAH Complex attended by Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael “Mike” Rama on behalf of Mayor Edgar Labella, City Councilor and NOAH Complex Manager Jocelyn “Joy” Pesquera, Cebu City Health Department OIC Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, FLI Senior Assistant Vice President Archie Igot, Quest Hotel and Conference Center Cebu General Manager Mia Singson-Leon, and East West Bank Store Manager Raisa Miro.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama in his speech expressed his gratitude to being part of this milestone in Filinvest and Cebu City’s partnership. “I welcome this assistance to the city government to help us get out of the quagmire of this pandemic. I’m thankful to Filinvest for this partnership,” said Vice Mayor Rama.
The initiative from Filinvest comes in very timely as the latest reports from the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center recorded a total of 3,383 active COVID-19 cases as of August 27 with 75 out of 80 barangays recording transmission from August 18 to 27.
“Our goal is for Filipinos to #FilFreeFilSafe. At this time of crisis, we are heeding the call of our partner LGUs for the benefit of our community. We believe that being in the business of building the Filipino dream means that we need to come together and help our country,” added EastWest Banking Corp. Director Isabelle Gotianun-Yap.
It can be recalled that Filinvest Development Corporation with its subsidiaries and foundations have pledged 100 million pesos for the fight against COVID. Filinvest says the group have since gone beyond this amount. Filinvest created the COVID19 tracker dashboard with DOH and DOST to equip key decision makers with reliable data. Filinvest also donated PPEs, test kits, PCR machines, and ventilators nationwide including hospitals and LGUs in Cebu City.
