Joy Crookes shared her new single ‘Trouble’, the latest single from her debut album Skin, out October 15th via Insanity Records. The new single premiered as Clara Amfo’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, and is the next in line of a run of immaculate singles from Joy, with ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now’, title track ‘Skin’, and ‘When You Were Mine’, both included on Skin, continue to go from strength to strength. The new single also follows Joy’s tour announce, which kicks off in November in Brighton, takes in two nights at O2 Forum Kentish Town, and extends into next year when Joy will take the show out to Europe. Full list of dates below.

Speaking about the track, another deeply personal and expertly crafted song from Joy, she says “‘Trouble’ is a song about a constant argument with a family member. It got to the point where I realised that fundamentally as much as we could clash, we both wanted to be on each other’s side “your trouble’s the same as mine”. It’s a cliche but we really do hurt the ones we love – it’s because we know we can and that the love will always be there.”

With Joy credited as an executive producer on the album, alongside the formidable Blue May (Kano, Blood Orange), Skin is a hugely personal, gamechanging body of work from one of the UK’s boldest and brightest young talents. A collection of songs built and honed throughout her adolescence and into her early twenties, and finessed last year within the most turbulent of circumstances, Skin touches on topics such as mental health, relationships, and politics all with grace and sensitivity. Joy has created what can only be described as a truly special body of work that is both perfectly of the moment, and entirely timeless. Skin’s album artwork is shot by Carlota Guerrero, who has previously worked with Arca, Chloe x Halle, and Solange for all of her imagery for A Seat At The Table.
