PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has teamed up with leading convenience store chain, 7-Eleven Philippines, to promote vaccination and help encourage a healthy lifestyle among customers in this year’s Virtual Fun Run.
Forty thousand customers nationwide are expected to join the Virtual Run happening on November 7 to 30, 2021. Registration is free for virtual runners who are completely vaccinated – they will just have to upload their verifiable vaccination cards and a receipt as proof of purchase of participating items from any 7-Eleven store.
Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated participants can still join but will have to pay the registration fee.
Just like last year, registered runners may complete their race distances from their chosen location – at home, on their treadmill, or on a regular jogging trail – and log their time on the 7-Eleven Run website. Virtual runners will receive a race kit when they successfully register. Finishers will also be awarded with a finishers kit that they can claim at designated 7-Eleven stores.
“Aside from promoting the importance of getting vaccinated and living a healthy lifestyle, this is also our way of supporting our brave and tireless frontliners in this pandemic. Together with Smart, we hope to inspire more Filipinos to stay healthy and encourage them to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Jose C. Ang, Jr., General Merchandise Head at Philippine Seven Corp, the local franchisor of 7-Eleven.
“We are very excited to be a part of 7-Eleven’s Virtual Fun Run once again and support the government’s effort to vaccinate all Filipinos against COVID-19. Smart has been partnering with 7-Eleven to support this Fun Run since 2018, since both companies believe in building a healthy nation. Smart’s fastest LTE and 5G network will be able to serve the needs of the virtual runners as they participate in this meaningful event,” said Precy P. Katigbak, FVP and Head, National Key Accounts at PLDT and Smart.
Smart, the Philippines’ fastest mobile network for four consecutive years, has also been declared the fastest and most reliable 5G mobile network in the country by Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis. Since launching the country’s first commercial 5G service in July last year, Smart has now fired up over 4,400 5G sites in more than 4,000 locations across the nation, making it the Philippines’ first, fastest, and widest 5G network.
