Singer-songwriter ADJENG continues to be a ray of light in the music scene with her own brand of R&B on the table. As she caps off a year full of career highs, Adjeng drops her inspirational, pop-R&B single “Kaya Mo Yan,” which carries a message of strength and hope during adversity. She’s a musician on a mission, and for a good reason- she aims to spread her advocacy with her authentic voice. As the first musician-ambassador for the mental health organization MindNation, and with October as Mental Health Awareness month, she believes that the timing of this release is perfect.
“Everyone is going through a battle we know nothing about. Apart from being kind to each other and ourselves, we could all use the reminder to keep powering through,” she emphasizes. With her previous release talking about kindness, it’s apt to release another single that hinges on uplifting one’s disposition.
The song came about when she was attending a songwriting masterclass with critically acclaimed musician and producer Jimmy Antiporda, where she collaborated with a classmate. “I worked with Miguel Facelo, he provided the beats and music. I wrote the melody and lyrics to this song entitled “Kaya Mo Yan.” I also recorded the vocals for this demo,” she states. After finishing and presenting the demo to the class, Adjeng and Facelo received much praise and positive feedback. Fast forward to the present, and they’re coming to a full circle as it goes live online. She credits Jimmy Antiporda as its music producer, Miguel Facelo for managing the music and beats, Theo Martel Alpas for the arrangement, and sound engineer Tim Recla for the recording.
One of the highlights for this single is the music video coming out in October, which features an outdoor shoot set on a football stadium. Far from her usual indoor studio where she does her singing and dancing, the music video will also feature an athlete as a personification of the song’s message. “That’s part of what my journey as an artist is all about, it’s taking on challenges and growing and having fun in the process.”
Armed with faith and encouragement, we can make it through the hard days. “Kaya Mo Yan” is out now on all digital streaming platforms.
