ARMSCOR Global Defense Inc., the Philippines’ oldest and largest firearms and ammunition manufacturer, is holding its first post-pandemic Tactical, Survival and Arms (TACS) Expo from June 23 to 26 at the Megatrade Hall of SM Mega Mall in Mandaluyong City.
Secretary Eduardo M Año of the Department of Interior and Local Government will be the guest of honor.
“We welcome the very first TACS Expo that we are going to hold after the pandemic. Aside from the LTOPF Caravan, there are other exciting sessions, new updates and models of defense weapons, sporting goods and equipment that the public can look forward to,” said ARMSCOR Deputy CEO and Senior Executive Vice President Gina Marie G. Angangco. Angangco is also a Philippine Army Reservist with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
ARMSCOR created the TACS Expo to educate the public on defense, security, and survival especially during disasters and emergency situations. This includes basic knowledge on which essentials to prepare in a go-bag, as well as lectures and demonstrations on self-defense skills.
On June 23, one of the topics will tackle alternative energy, to be spearheaded by Emergency Management Center Director Louie Domingo. Other topics to be covered are gun safety, rescue techniques, and data privacy.
Through this event, opportunities are open for manufacturers, dealers, inventors, and preppers of firearms to showcase their products and new technologies. These include different types of weapons, safety equipment, sporting goods, and other items for shooting enthusiasts, professionals, and athletic competitors.
One of the highlights from last year’s Expo was the unveiling of the Rock Island Armory STK 100, a 9mm striker-fired semi-automatic pistol. This year, new colors of this popular model will be introduced, but with the same impressive features such as aircraft aluminum frame, black anodized and parkerized finish, 17-round magazine capacity, and a high-carbon steel barrel that also works for non-full metal jacket bullets.
The Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force and Philippine Coast Guard are among those who will feature their various rescue materials and other equipment in their respective booths.
Firearms owners will also be given an opportunity to apply for or renew their license, register their weapons, obtain necessary clearances, secure drug tests, among others, through a one-stop-shop called License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) Caravan.
While admission to the 2022 TACS Expo and seminars throughout the 4-day event are free, ARMSCOR encourages those interested to pre-register via online at the official TACS website.
