Azeus Systems Holdings Limited (“Azeus” or the “Group”), announces the appointment of Michael Yap as the new chief executive officer during the filing on the Singapore Exchange last March 15, 2022, with immediate effect. Azeus Philippines will now recognize Yap with his new position alongside his service as the current deputy chairperson of the Group.
Yap will assume responsibility from Lee Wan Lik, founder of Azeus, who stepped down as the company’s CEO and managing director, on the same day. However, Lee will continue to be the founder and chairperson of the Group’s board. Yap has been serving as the independent director of Azeus since 2004 and has been reappointed as the executive director and deputy chairperson in April 2020.
He has led various Singapore technology and media government agencies, including the National Interactive Digital Media Program Office in Singapore. He managed a $500 million development fund to help the new sector flourish in the country. He was also the CEO of the National Computer Board, the precursor to the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore. Yap was the managing director of the world’s leading enterprise software company, where he led the company’s activities and business development across Asia-Pacific. Moreover, he was the founder and CEO of a software product company, leading its presence and expansion to over 30 countries in Asia.
Yap currently sits on the boards of various public listed and private companies in Malaysia and Singapore, such as the Singapore Science Center, Media Development Authority, and Singapore Institute of Technology.
Yap has been recognized as one of the “Top 100 Future Global Leaders” by the World Economic Forum and one of the “50 Stars of Asia” by Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
