Filipino talent and charisma were on full display as BINI and BGYO performed their respective hits “Born To Win” and “The Baddest” as special guests in the Uplive Worldstage Global Singing Competition, which streamed worldwide via the Uplive app.
The two breakout P-pop groups from ABS-CBN sang and danced to their fans’ delight in the annual global singing tilt organized by Uplive, the largest independent global video social entertainment platform.
During the interviews before they took the stage, the girls and boys opened up about coping with the pandemic and their continuous rise in the music industry.
“It’s really hard as everything is done virtually. We can’t meet other people, our families, friends, and our supporters so we try to make ourselves available through social media. We do livestreams as well. We get to communicate and connect with them through that,” Aiah shared. The group’s main rapper and visual added they like to do things together like having a movie night to strengthen their bond.
Their siblings in BGYO, meanwhile, are also doing well. “It has been amazing. We went through a lot of crazy things and we reached a lot of goals we never thought we would reach. We’re with the ACEs every day and I think we just appreciate everything that comes into our life,” Nate said.
BINI, composed of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, and Nate, Gelo, Akira, Mikki, and JL of BGYO are products of ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy, and are currently signed with Star Magic, the Philippines’ biggest talent management and development agency.
Since their respective debuts, the two groups have been capturing the attention and hearts of music fans all over the world. Aside from both having music videos with millions of views on YouTube, BINI was also featured in MTV Asia last year while BGYO hit number one on Billboard’s global Next Big Sound chart.
Aside from BINI and BGYO, also raising the flag for the Philippines in the Uplive Worldstage Global Singing Competition is Grand Prize winner Harvey Dave Nino from Isabela province. The gifted 22-year old singer and performer bested 19 other finalists who were chosen from thousands of competitors from 150 regions in the world. He won a record deal, cash prize, and a hit song and video to be produced by a Grammy-winning producer.
ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo was also tapped as one of the judges in Uplive WorldStage, alongside other respected music personalities from all around the world including Emmy and Grammy award winner Paula Abdul.
ABS-CBN is the official media partner of Uplive WorldStage, formerly known as Singing for the World, whose highly anticipated grand finals was streamed on the Uplive app with catch-up on ABS-CBN’s digital platforms, iWantTFC and ABS-CBN Entertainment’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
