Brandcomm Asia, an independent and rapidly growing public relations agency in the Philippines, announces the appointment of Paulus Soriano as its new Managing Director.
Soriano is a seasoned, motivated, and solutions-driven public relations professional with more than ten years of industry experience. Since 2012, he has worked with local and global brands in consumer and enterprise technology, finance, travel and tourism, FMCG, and a lot of other sectors, including government agencies.
As Brandcomm’s Managing Director, he is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the business, supervising and stirring the company’s operations, people, and ventures in order to maintain its growth. His vision for the company is to help build the next giants of the industry by sharing his PR and media expertise to support the marketing and communications needs of venture-backed start-ups, SMEs, and underserved brands in the Philippines.
“We strongly believe that startups and SMEs in the Philippines, especially those that are homegrown, are globally competitive but lack the opportunity to be noticed and heard,” narrates Soriano. “If they could only be given a chance to tell their story of innovation and passion, there is no doubt that they would have a lot of potentials to succeed and become the next giants of their industries.”
Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the stretch between 2019 to 2021 has actually turned out to be a period of opportunity for startups and small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
According to this year’s Philippine Venture Capital Report, the country’s startup ecosystem has grown in both deal and value during this period, with funds raised in 2021 totaling US$1.03 billion – significantly higher than the US$ 153 million and US$ 369 million recorded in 2019 and 2020, respectively. With the potential contribution of startups to the economy, the Philippines started focusing on building a robust startup ecosystem with the implementation of key policies and regulatory reforms like the Innovation and Startup Act of 2019, which have since streamlined government processes, systems, and procedures, while making it easier to put up a business in the country.
“As a company, we consider ourselves a startup, too, and we understand the challenges of fellow entrepreneurs. BrandComm Asia aims to help their business grow and grab the attention of more mentors and investors through strategic and creative storytelling. We are committed to our mission of helping promote these startups to their industries and target audiences, in the best way possible, to both local and international markets,” beams Soriano.
