Emilio Aguinaldo College partners with Globe for its delivery of exceptional education

For many Filipinos seeking to build a brighter future, obtaining a quality education is key for them to achieve their dreams. However, like any industry, education can be volatile and constantly changing, especially in today’s world which pushes schools to continuously adapt to new processes and methods of teaching.

Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), which has campuses in Manila and Cavite, knew early on the importance of adapting to today’s rapid changes. Even before the need for remote learning platforms was accelerated by disruptive events in 2020, such as the eruption of the Taal Volcano and the Covid-19 pandemic, EAC sought a partner to help the institution continue fulfilling its vision of “providing students with an exceptional education.”

EAC tapped Globe Business to help enhance its education delivery to its school community through the D2L Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS). D2L Brightspace uses techniques and tools such as adaptive learning, badging and gamification, blended and mobile learning, classroom technologies, e-textbooks, learning analytics/learning objects, open educational resources, technology-enhanced teaching and learning, and virtual and augmented reality.

Established in 1999 by John Baker, who at the time was an engineering student, Brightspace was the answer to Baker’s question: “How can we use technology to dramatically transform learning?” With LMS’s numerous relevant features, EAC makes use of learning analytics, classroom technologies, and blended mobile learning to do just that.

“Technology plays a significant role in business, especially in an educational setting. The Brightspace training session we held before the eruption of Taal Volcano and before the occurrence of the pandemic was very timely,” says EAC President Dr. Jose Paulo Campos. “The effect of that workshop was a smooth transition for EAC from face-to-face engagement to online delivery of teaching-learning, since team members are well-versed on the online platform necessary to continue providing quality education to our students.”

D2L Brightspace helped to equip EAC faculty and students with a secure mobile app that allowed them to check attendance, hold virtual classes, and collaborate online, helping to save them time, while supporting continuous learning at home.

“The digital learning platforms we provide are designed to promote learner success through easy, flexible, and effective learning tools. With these, we aim to provide every Filipino student access to 21st Century quality education empowering youth for a brighter future,” said KD Dizon, Head of Globe Business MSME Group.

With the success of EAC’s partnership with Globe Business, other institutions are encouraged to set up their own digital learning platform.

“With the help of technology, our schools can help the educational system transcend the four walls of the classroom–and enable students to contribute to social transformation and global progress,” Campos says.
