The Fiber to the Home Council Asia Pacific (FTTH Council Asia-Pacific) will be holding the much anticipated technology forum – 2022 Philippines Virtual FIBERTalk – in Manila this April 21, and will gather fiber and broadband technology experts and industry players from around the region.
For 2022, Manila will serve as the host country for the FTTH Council APAC’s yearly fiber-focused conference, FIBERTalk, with Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. as its supporting organization.
With the theme, “A Brighter Future with Fiber”, the virtual conference takes a forward-looking, post-pandemic approach on developments in the fiber technology industry, with the view of Asia Pacific region’s current recovery from the pandemic slump.
“The conference will be a timely opportunity to not just look back on how fiber has been an engine for growth and productivity amid the pandemic, but how it can accelerate APAC economies’ recovery in the near future. We arranged this seminar so that the local telecommunication industry can benefit from the sharing of knowledge by both local and foreign experts in this field,” noted Venkatesan Babu, President of FTTH Council APAC.
“While the pandemic has slowed down the activity of many industries, technology is an exception in that it has rapidly developed in the past two years. Fiber technology, in particular, has emerged as an essential enabler for many sectors to cope with the sudden ‘hyperconnected’ digital environment,” said Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and Co-Founder of Converge, and the pioneering Philippine member of the FTTH Council Asia-Pacific.
Telecommunication company executives, industry leaders and experts, and key government stakeholders are expected to grace the event to discuss the emerging technologies powered by fiber, innovations in fiber driven by the pandemic, and a broad view of the current fiber landscape. The speaker line-up includes Prof. Ioannis Tomkos, Director of the Optical Communications Laboratory at the University of Patras, Greece; Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic of the Department of Communications and Technology (DICT); key executives from Globe Telecom, PLDT and Converge; as well as experts from the government, and technology partners.
The FTTH Council APAC is a Singapore-based non-profit organization aimed at promoting adoption of optical fiber access across the region. The organization’s signature FIBERTalk seminar series serves as a significant platform for regional fiber industry players to track the technology’s direction and trends.
Notable organizations have joined the event as sponsors including: ZTE, Corning, Senko and Exfo.
