Building on its breakout performance in 2021, global technology brand Infinix is gearing up for the aggressive expansion of its product offerings and retail presence in the Philippines to drive growth in 2022.
After last year’s success in the budget smartphone category, Infinix plans to offer more diverse value-for-money products this year. Cooper Ma, Country Manager of Infinix Philippines, shared that the company will soon stake its claim in the local 5G category. “5G is an exciting technology set to revolutionize many areas of our lives. However, access to it is still limited. As telcos invest heavily in expanding connectivity across the country, we will also launch new smartphones that will democratize the 5G experience for many Filipinos.”
Ma added that they would scale up their product portfolio following the launch of INBook X1, their first bet in the local laptop market that became a top-selling device during 11.11 and 12.12 sales in 2021. “Similar to our smartphones, the INBook X1 laptop has the best specifications for its price range. We look forward to launching successor models designed especially for Filipinos who have discerning taste in specs and design but are prudent with their spending.”
While it only started investing in the Philippines in late 2020, Infinix’s parent company Transsion Holdings already recorded a massive 228% annual growth in Q4 2021, according to global market analyst firm Canalys. International Data Corporation (IDC) also reported that it had the third biggest shipment in the same period at 2.47 million, beating the 5.6% drop in the local smartphone market last year. It continued to sustain its growth in Q1 2022 by emerging as the top three and top five best-selling brand for mobile and laptop categories, respectively, in Shopee’s 2.2 sale.
Infinix made its name globally for offering smartphones powered by high-end specs at affordable pricing in emerging markets like Africa, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, it became known for its powerful budget gaming smartphones, which catered to the growing demand of 9 out of 10 Filipinos who play mobile games. According to We Are Social, the Philippines is the world leader in having the highest percentage of video gamers at 96.4%.
Infinix’s 2021 best-selling smartphones are HOT 10S and NOTE 10 Pro, which are both gaming devices designed for entry and mid-range level categories, respectively. Last year, the brand introduced ZERO X Pro, its flagship device with a 108MP camera and 60x zoom camera often found in higher-end products. Due to popular demand, Infinix upgraded its NOTE 10 Pro in January 2022 with a more advanced MediaTek Helio G95 chipset and 256GB storage.
Infinix has strengthened its national coverage through offline and online channels, with over a thousand partner dealers, over three thousand multi-brand shops, six concept shops, 116 concept kiosks, and official stores in key e-commerce platforms.
