InLife Executive Chairperson Nina D. Aguas expresses gratitude to the UN Women 2022 Asia-Pacific Women’s Empowerment Principles Awards for recognizing InLife’s advocacy to uplift the lives of women.

Insular Life (InLife) has been selected as the 2nd runner-up in the Community Engagement and Partnerships category at the recently held 2022 Regional Asia-Pacific Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards.

The country’s largest Filipino life insurance company received the award “for exemplary practice embracing the women’s empowerment principles in Asia-Pacific.” This regional award follows the recognition given to InLife, through its InLife Sheroes Advocacy and Movement, as the Champion of the 2022 Philippines WEPs Awards’ Community Engagement and Partnerships category.

InLife Executive Chairperson Nina D. Aguas thanked the UN Women 2022 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards for the recognition and the InLife Sheroes’ partner institutions for sharing the advocacy to uplift the lives of women.

“When women are empowered to live their lives accordingly, families, societies, and countries will thrive. We thank the many wonderful organizations and business institutions that joined us in the InLife Sheroes Advocacy and Movement. Together, we are giving better opportunities to more women to reach their dreams and fulfill their purpose,” she said during the 2022 Regional ceremony of the Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards which was presented by UN Women, with the additional support of the Government of Australia.

Since its inception in 2019, the InLife Sheroes through its four pillars of Financial Literacy, Health and Wellness, Women-specific Solutions, and Connection to Business and Social Networks, has reached more than 7.6 million Filipinos. In 2021, the InLife Sheroes contributed to the growing share of women policyholders with 61% of InLife policies sold to women. InLife’s wholly-owned subsidiary Insular Health Care, meanwhile, has sold more than 73,000 policies to women, ensuring protection for more Filipino women.

The UN Women 2022 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards recognized innovations in the private sector that promote gender equality in seven categories: Leadership Commitment, Youth Leadership, Gender-Inclusive Workplace, Gender-Responsive Marketplace, Community Engagement and Partnerships, Transparency and Reporting, and SME Champions. The Community Engagement and Partnerships category recognizes businesses that promote gender equality through community-based initiatives and collaborations with non-government organizations, civil society, and international organizations. It also honors efforts in advancing systemic change towards gender inclusivity through partnerships.
