Actress-singer Kristel Fulgar capped off a once in a lifetime interview last June 30 as she celebrated her one-on-one interview with top-billed K-Drama actor Seo In-guk.
Kristel, a NYMA talent, was the sole vlogger chosen to interview the South Korean actor, who is fresh off the release of his comeback album “LOVE&LOVE” and a new K-Drama on Netflix, “Cafe Mindamang.” Only two other interviewers– both from major TV networks– were granted the same opportunity.
The actress spoke the Korean language fluently in the interview, impressing the K-pop superstar.
During the interview, Kristel talked to In-guk about a wealth of topics, from what makes him call someone his love, his plans for the next 5 years and what sets him apart from other K-Drama stars of his generation to his favorite part about visiting the Philippines and if he would be doing a fan meet in the K-crazed country soon.
After the interview, Kristel revealed to In-guk that she had learned Korean so she could understand him in his concerts, for which the actor showed deep gratitude.
“I made sure I was at my calmest and most focused para magtanong po ako ng malinaw at makinig ako sa mga sagot niya. Kasi po kung nakinig ako sa advice na be yourself, baka maging hysterical ako sa harap ni Seo In-guk. May halo po talagang acting ‘yung interview para maikalma ko sarili ko,” she said.
Kristel thanked In-guk’s label Warner Music Philippines and her management NYMA for giving her the opportunity. She also credited her mother Emily, who also earned a special mention “for putting up with all the nerves and countless practice times talking to her in Korean.”
Kristel practiced her Hangul for 5 straight days upon hearing the news that she was given the opportunity to do the interview. The preparation paid off: she was able to converse with the actor for 20 minutes in fluent Hangul!
