Fil-Canadian Sarah Nichole Filtness of Cebu is the country’s bet in the upcoming Miss Teen Model Universe this December which will be held in Madrid, Spain. The 16-year-old stunner was handpicked and appointed by the national organization after passing the screening and series of interviews.
Sarah, who is currently in Grade 10 at St Cecilia’s College Cebu started joining beauty pageants when she was 11 years old. According to her mother who is a pharmacist, at first, she discouraged her daughter because she wanted Sarah to concentrate on her studies. But Sarah insisted and proved to her mother (and father who is a doctor) that she can do pageants and still do good in school. Her last pageant was in Tbilisi, Georgia before the pandemic where she won the Miss Pre-Teen Universe pageant.
Aside from pageants, Sarah has also done fashion shows for some clothing brands and designers. The teen is a strong advocate of education and she believes that every child deserves to have free access to good education. According to her, being in a pageant gives her a bigger platform so her voice can be heard by a wider audience. One of her dreams is to put up her own educational foundation.
“I am blessed to have such supportive parents who can send me to school and for that, I will always be grateful. I hope that one of these days, I can directly help my fellow youth so they could have the kind of education that they deserve.”
