When Island Records Philippines launched in 2020, the world was on lockdown. However, amidst these challenging circumstances, this label began a revolution in local music, offering a space for creativity and an opportunity to share that creative work with a wider audience. As the world slowly opens up, Island welcomes everyone to its second anniversary and first major in-person event, the Nomad Music Festival. Happening on Sunday, July 24, it begins at 2 PM at the Venice Piazza in Taguig City.

The name of the festival, says Island Records Philippines’ Head and A&R, Bel Certeza, reflects the spirit behind it. “The core meaning of the word [nomad] is a combination of journey and searching, which perfectly describes the heart of our music festival…it’s a music experience and discovery platform.” She adds that part of the festival’s purpose is to introduce new artists who will become part of Island’s roster and to invite lesser-known bands to showcase their music in future legs. In other words, July 24th is just the beginning.

The Nomad Music Festival will be the first opportunity for music fans to see all these artists perform live in one stage:

  • juan karlos
  • Fern.
  • BLASTER and the Celestial Klowns
  • Cheats
  • One Click Straight
  • Over October
  • dia mate
  • Elise Huang
  • 10 AM Departure
  • Chen Pangan
  • Hannah+Gabi
  • Ang Bagong Luto ni Enriquez
  • Smow
  • Kenneth Amores

Island Records Philippines aims to stage future legs every year and take the event to different parts of the country. Certeza also added that they may invite regional and international artists to be part of the future legs of the festival.

The story of Island Records Philippines are the stories of many creative voices who bring who they are into the work they do. With the Nomad Music Festival, music lovers will hear these voices gathered together on one stage, continuing Island’s journey into a hopeful future for local music.

Nomad: An Island Records Philippines Music Festival is in partnership with UMusic PH, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, and the Venice Grand Canal Mall.
