For the first time ever, multi-million selling and streaming rock band Simple Plan has teamed up with Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley on a brand new single. The two powerhouses have come together on the anthemic “Ruin My Life”.
“‘Ruin My Life’ is a song about overcoming adversity, going through a difficult life situation, and not only surviving it, but becoming an even stronger and more resilient version of yourself because of it,” the band shares. “It’s fun, catchy, energetic and empowering and we’re so excited to share it with our fans. Having Deryck from Sum 41 sing on it with us makes it even more special!”
The song, which feels perfectly old school while still sounding fresh and modern, is built directly from the signature Simple Plan DNA – catchy riffs, soaring choruses, relatable lyrics, and that extra special feel to their songs that speaks directly to the listener. When it came to writing the song, it was a no-brainer for the group to collaborate with fellow Canadian musician Deryck Whibley, who was part of the same generation of bands who helped shape the pop-punk scene of the early 2000s and made this style of music one of the most popular and influential cultural movements of the last 20 years.
“Ruin My Life” comes on the heels of Simple Plan’s recent single “The Antidote”, which was released in late 2021 and has amassed millions of streams across platforms. 2022 also marks the 20th anniversary of Simple Plan’s debut album ‘No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls‘, which recently gained attention on TikTok through the viral “I’m Just A Kid” challenge. The song has inspired millions of videos, including videos from Will Smith, Ed Sheeran, Usher, and more. “I’m Just A Kid” was certified RIAA Platinum in 2020.
With multiple headlining tours in the region over the years, Simple Plan is no stranger to Southeast Asia. Jakarta, Indonesia is the band’s top city based on streaming, and their list of top countries by streaming includes 🇮🇩 Indonesia #3, 🇵🇭 Philippines #5, and 🇸🇬 Singapore #11.
Simple Plan is Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Chuck Comeau (drums), Sebastien Lefebvre (lead guitar), and Jeff Stinco (rhythm guitar).
