Filipino sneakerheads always look for style and quality, and with more New Balance collections to be released this year, sneakerheads can surely look forward to exciting times ahead.
Teddy Santis, founder and creative director of NYC apparel and lifestyle brand Aimé Leon Dore (ALD), has recently released his first seasonal collection as Creative Director for New Balance MADE in USA. As part of the “MADE in USA” collection and to mark the 40th anniversary of the iconic 990 silhouette, Santis designed seasonal, limited-edition models of the 990v1, 990v2 and 990v3 which were released in the US in April, with new introductions each month.
In addition to the seasonal models of the 990v1, 990v2 and 990v3, the collection will also include classic American sportswear apparel. With a keen eye towards craftsmanship, Santis designed a variety of sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts, long sleeve t-shirts and short sleeve t-shirts.
Santis has made a name for himself by creating products with a New York sensibility. He’s also highly regarded for his deep commitment to authentic storytelling, which is a thread that he’ll sew throughout his work with New Balance. Santis’ vision for MADE is focused on designs that highlight New Balance’s history, heritage and craftsmanship through products, materials, and uses of color. Using that narrative as the overarching inspiration for the collection, Santis then segmented it into three distinct categories:
- Elevated legacy – Celebrating the foundational classic colors of the brand in premium executions
- Uniform staple – Easy to wear colors that become everyday wardrobe mainstays
- Quickstrike – Pushing innovative colors and materials that provide a unique take on key models
“As a brand, New Balance has always been drawn to nontraditional and independent creators, which is what makes Teddy such a perfect fit for New Balance MADE in the USA,” said Chris Davis, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Merchandising at New Balance. “Not only does he have an incredibly authentic and passionate tie to New Balance, but he’s uniquely positioned to help preserve the history of MADE, which is the foundation of the brand, while simultaneously guiding its evolution through his unique design sensibility.”
But this is just the beginning for Santis as the next drop is set to be released locally in July 2022 in select New Balance stores and in Commonwealth. Sneakerheads can expect more unique designs along with New Balance’s signature quality.
